Absolutely stunning 2 storey holiday home just a few minutes drive from the Lake Tekapo town center, but not on the main road so little traffic noise. With 4 bedrooms, 2 located upstairs and 2 downstairs, there’s plenty of room for the whole family – or two families. Recently refurbished, with tasteful family-feeling decorations, you will feel right at home.

The House

As the original booked house was unavailable we were upgraded to the Rollesby, which made our money seem so very well worth it. $487 for 2 adults, 2 children and 1 infant for 2 nights.

This beautiful 2 storey wooden holiday house located in the lovely lakeside town of Lake Tekapo ticks all the boxes.

A large deck with table and barbeque set off the entrance. Inside, the lounge includes 4 sofas, a large wall mounted TV with full SKY including Sports and Movies, cosy woodburner fire, dining room table framed by comfy bench seats, and full kitchen. The kitchen includes dishwasher, and pantry featuring coffee, teas, spices, sauces and baking supplies.

Off the lounge there are two bedrooms, one with bunks and the other a queen bed. Up the stairs are another two bedrooms, one huge room with two queen beds and the master with a king bed. My only complaint with the beds was very rustly bedding, though very snuggly and comfy, every movement was accentuated by the rustling and made sleeping in close quarters with others a little more difficult.

Downstairs is a separate toilet with washing machine, and lovely bathroom with shower.

The Experience

We arrived to lights on, and a heater going upstairs. The fire was ready to be lit, so it was nice and cosy. On the wall next to the fire were full fire lighting instructions, which would be helpful for those unsure of the fire starting process. It was a shame there was not more paper and kindling as lighting the fire in the subsequent mornings proved slightly more difficult. With plenty of wall mounted heaters the place was quickly warmed though, making the fire of non-importance.

The views were lovely, and waking up the first morning to snow was just magical.
